Three Tuns Brewery goes from strength to strength

I make no bones about the fact that John from the Three Tuns Brewery is one of my best mates, but that doesn’t guarantee you a mention on this blog! Even if you are the oldest licenced brewery in the UK!

I thought I should write up a little post about how well the brewery are doing. I played golf with John last Friday and he tells me that they are even getting business from Twitter now – which of course I will claim full credit for putting him onto! The Shropshire Star wrote a good article on his tweets last week – click here to read what they said.

In my opinion a brewery, like any other business, needs to have excellent customer service. Having a number of John’s clients as clients myself I know that they are really good, but it is the fact that certain things others fall down on are considered “de rigeur” that sets them apart – if I was running a pub I would want to know that my beer would arrive on time – apparently this is not a given in the licenced trade, but it is with The Three Tuns Brewery who have never been late with a delivery since John and Bill took it over.

They are really busy and approaching capacity again – John even suggested there might be a waiting list soon! My advice therefore is get in touch with them sooner rather than later – my personal recommendations would be the XXX and Clerics Cure beers – excellent, if a tad too moreish!

I’m sure John would also agree that their website, designed and built by Severn Internet of course, has not done them any harm either!

Bishops Castle Beer Festival Update

Purely in the interest of market research I happened to be in The Three Tuns last night when I bumped into a somewhat tired looking Mick who happens to be the brewer from the Three Tuns Brewery. Mick has obviously been working flat out in terms of getting plenty of the brewery’s beer ready for the festival.

He also mentioned however that there will be over EIGHTY beers available at this years festival. I defy anyone to sample every one of them! Even though Nev at The Six Bells is not a web design client of Severn Internet He does deserve a special mention in this post as he has over thirty beers available apparently. Given that The Six Bells is at the bottom of the hill, you may want to consider moving towards there rather than starting there I’d suggest!

Anyway, it looks like the weather is fine and as I said the other day there is camping available very close to the brewery. Do try and get along – it is a really good event.

Bishops Castle Beer Festival

This weekend sees the annual Bishops Castle Beer Festival taking place on Friday 10th and Saurday 11th July. It is a great event even if you are not there to drink the beer. There are bands outside and most of the pubs have some form of food going on. If the weather is good it makes for a good day out with the kids.

If you want to stay for the duration and are a camping person we would naturally recommend our client The Three Tuns Brewery who run a camp site that is only staggering distance from the brewery itself which will of course be selling its beer. The Three Tuns Brewery is the oldest licenced brewery in the UK and I can personally recommend all their beers with Three Tuns XXX being my personal favourite!

The brewery is situated right next door to another client of ours The Three Tuns Inn. This particular pub will always hold a sentimental place in my own heart as it was here that we decided finally to quit the London rat race some moons ago! It is a great pub, full of character and unless things are different this year there will be a great band on in the space between the brewery and the pub.

Just up the road is The Castle Hotel which in my humble opinion has the finest garden of any pub in England (Yes they are a client too!), certainly of any pub in Bishop’s Castle. They tend to add a good range of Cornish Beers for the festival, and they are worth a visit just for the BBQ alone.

If these three fine establishments are not enough, and why should they be, there are yet more venues in this great town (Iam obviously not biased living just outside!) which are all worth a visit – The Vaults, The Kings Head, The Boars Head and The Six Bells. These aren’t clients so don’t get links!! But do give them a try – The Six Bells is another brewery and its beers can also be recommended – my personal favouite here is Cloud Nine which is where you will be if you have too mucch!

It is really a great day out and can certainly be recommended.
